DIY: Refashion Blazer Vest

Do you have an old blazer in your house just taking up space in your closet?  Well grab it!  You can also use your husband’s old blazer.   Another great option for unique treasures is the thrift and consignment shops.  I usually always find an item that I can wear or refashion.

I used a large blazer from my family closet.

Step 1: Cut Sleeves

Step 2: Decide how fitted you would like the blazer

Step 3:  Turn blazer to wrong side of fabric and sew the sides the desired width (Approximately 1- 2 inches).  Sew from the bottom under the arm to the bottom of side of blazer.

Step 4: Turn sleeves toward the inside of blazer and sew around edge of arms, to clean up raw edges

Step 5: Ready to wear!  Easy as 1-2-3-4

Refashion a closet staple that you have in your home and turn it into something new.  Possibly you have a blazer in your closet that you brought 6 years ago and you felt it was out of season.  Well, it’s time to recreate.

The blazer vest is the perfect work life balance.  Wear your new vest with a pair of black or brown slacks with a solid color shirt and you are ready for the office.  Transition to-night wearing a pencil dress, and you’re ready to hit the town or date night.
