Time to relax and unwind! The aromatherapy pillow will help and it is very easy to make. It can be sewn using a sewing machine or by hand with a close whip or blind stitch. I have made and used an aromatherapy pillow for many years and I love the benefits.
MATERIALS
Sewing Machine
Needle
Thread
Bowl and Spoon
Corn, Rice, Flaxseed
Essential Oil – Lavender is great
Fabric (satin, cotton, denim or desired material)
MIXING
1: Pour 2 cups of rice (desired filling) in a bowl
2: Add 8-10 drops of essential oil into the bowl
3: Mix for about 1 minute
4: Let the mix sit for about 30 minutes to an hour. This allows the essential oils to soak into the rice and the smell is very fragrant.
SEWING
1: Cut Fabric into rectangle or desired shape of pillow. (6 – 12 inches)
2: Sew (on the wrong side of fabric) 5/8 inches to the edge of fabric.
Leave a 2 – 3-inch hole, to allow you to turn the fabric to right side
3: Clip 4 corners of fabric
4: Turn Fabric to the right side of fabric.
5 – 6: Add rice, corn or desired filling into the fabric using a funnel
7: Sew the hole closed (sew very close to the edge of fabric) using the sewing machine. Can be sewn by hand using a blind stitch or whip stitch.
To Use:
Sprinkle a little bit of water or aromatherapy and warm in microwave for 1 – 2 minutes.
Use on forehead, back and works great for cramps.
No Sewing Option:
Mix filling and add to an old sock. Tie a knot to close opening of material.
