Wearing this dress during the cold weather months, I immediately thought of velvet material. I love to feel warm and comfortable. This was my first experience sewing with velvet, but was up for the challenge. Velvet is rich in texture and color. Throughout the sewing process the fabric was slightly slippery, but manageable with tons of pins to help hold in place.
I loved the pattern M7834 as a guide, because it is stylish, comfortable and provides full coverage to help stay warm both inside and out. The collar, buttons and necktie are also added details, complimentary to color and texture of dress. I may try sewing another dress in a crepe or satin fabric.
